The Roads and Traffic Authority (RTA) engaged Connector Motorways (formerly known as the Lane Cove Tunnel Company) in December 2003 to design, construct, maintain and operate the Lane Cove Tunnel and Falcon Street Gateway for 33 years.

Thiess John Holland was contracted by Connector Motorways to design and construct the tunnel and associated works.

The Lane Cove Tunnel, Falcon Street Gateway and widened Gore Hill Freeway were opened on 25 March 2007.

Throughout 2007, Thiess John Holland will construct a new bus interchange and pedestrian bridge on Longueville Road, Lane Cove.
